Democratic candidate Dan Seals is gaining ground in the Illinois 10th District Congressional race, another prominent, nonpartisan group reported recently.

In a strong sign the Seals campaign is gaining momentum over the Republican incumbent Rep. Mark Kirk, the 10th District race was changed to "Republican Favored" from "Republican Safe" by Congressional Quarterly, which tracks Congressional races nationwide. The downgrade for the Republican incumbent's campaign reflects an erosion of Kirk's once perceived insurmountable lead in the Nov. 7 election.
