Dan Seals Spends Halloween Evening Meeting Voters and Trick-or-Treating With His Daughters
October 31, 2006
WILMETTE, Il. -- Tenth Congressional District Candidate Dan Seals will not be appearing in a previously scheduled candidates forum tonight at the Waukegan City Club, the campaign announced today.
Forum organizers would not agree to a balanced, public program, said campaign manager Patrick Mogge. "The whole point of having debates is to inform the voters about the candidates' positions on the issues. This campaign requested six," Mogge said. "This forum serves no legitimate purpose since it is not open to the public."
"We never agreed to the format," Mogge continued. "And when we tried to negotiate a debate that would actually serve the public interest, the organizers were not interested."
The Seals campaign has previously expressed disappointment that U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk would agree to only one real debate with nonpartisan sponsorship like the one sponsored by the League of Women Voters, held on Oct. 26 in Lincolnshire.
