Seals Files Over 4,416 Signatures in Springfield

Local Volunteer Grassroots Support Strong

October 29, 2007

Wilmette, IL- The Dan Seals for Congress campaign filed4,416 signatures with the State Board of Elections in Springfield today securing his place on the Democratic primary ballot for United States Representative from the Tenth District of Illinois.

“I am pleased with the outpouring of local support we’ve received in this campaign. I can’t thank our dedicated volunteers enough. They spent countless hours going door-to-door talking with their neighbors about the important issues facing our country and asking for their help to get my name on the ballot,” Seals said.

The Seals campaign used an all volunteer army of supporters to collect over four times the amount signatures that are required, 1001, to secure a place on the ballot in the Tenth District.

This strong showing builds upon his impressive third quarter fundraising numbers where the grassroots candidate raised approximately $301,308 with 94% of the amount raised coming from Illinois. The fundraising totals actually increased during what is widely considered the toughest quarter of the year, suggesting that the campaign is picking up momentum.

More than 1,000 people have contributed to the campaign in the 2008 cycle and Dan has the support of several elected officials including State Senator Jeffrey Schoenberg, State Senator Terry Link, State Senator Susan Garrett, State Representative Julie Hamos, State Representative Kathy Ryg, State Representative Eddie Washington, State Representative Elaine Nekritz, former Tenth District Congressman Abner Mikva, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Congressmen James Clyburn (D-SC), both of whom are in the House leadership.

Several organizations including the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the International Association of Machinists (IAM) have all endorsed his candidacy and contributed to his campaign.
